Mode of assuming role of SCAI coordinator

A student interested in initiating Students Club for Augmenting Innovations (SCAI) at his/her institute will have to follow a sequence of steps by way of which SCAI and its related activities can be commenced at the institute.

Firstly, in order to get a holistic view of all our activities visit us online at

www.nifindia.org

www.scai.nif.org.in

www.honeybee.org

www.gian.org

Secondly, go through a brief write up on SCAI which has been mentioned on the home page of SCAI website. This would enable the prospective coordinator to get a fair idea of the framework of SCAI- institutional, operational, benefits accrued out of it, etc.

Thirdly, relevant presentation material on NIF and SCAI would be sent to the student coordinator. This would include- CDs on NIF presentation, copies of Honey Bee newsletter, copies of awarded innovations, posters of fourth national campaign, etc. The student coordinator would be required to put up a presentation before the students (seniors and juniors) and then choose a team of at least 4-5 of those interested. As per the coordinator’s discretion, a faculty coordinator also needs to constitute the team.

Fourthly, the student coordinator will have to send in his/her Statement of Purpose (SoP) highlighting his/her vision for SCAI, its philosophy, model and blueprint for the future, expected areas of activities/involvement, definition of success and parameters for evaluating the team’s activities, expectations from NIF. He/she may also incorporate any skills of entrepreneurship exhibited in the past. Also, the issue relating to succession- handing over the responsibility to a junior student on graduating- needs to be addressed in the SoP. The statement has to be concise and focused and needs to be limited to 500 words. It has to be sent on scai@nifindia.org.

Lastly, after having formed the team all its members would be sent couple of projects (grassroots innovations/instances of traditional knowledge) to work on. Geographical proximity of the innovator’s place to the institute will be kept in mind. But any out of pocket expenses incurred for fieldwork would be reimbursed by the organization.

Also, the student’s name as the SCAI coordinator for his/her institute would be formally put up on SCAI website.
